Tanuki Raw

Craving for some sashimi? Try out Tanuki Raw, which is conveniently located at Orchard area. They also have another location in National Design Centre.

A must-try dish for sashimi lovers is their Tanuki Kaisen Chirashi Donburi ($22.90). Where they serve you all the good stuff you can think about. From tuna, scallop, salmon sahimi to uni and ebiko that goes with Tanuki Raw’s signature mixed rice.

Overall, the taste of the sashimi are fresh and it goes well with the mixed rice. Something I’ll definitely go back to again.

Another dish we tried from their menu is the Foie Gras Truffle Yakiniku ($19.90). It consists of US black angus short rib, pan-seared foie gras and onsen egg with truffle soy sauce and black garlic brown butter over their signature rice.

We also tried one of their rolls—Superstar Roll ($12.90). Seared salmon and crispy mozzarella cheese combo is love.

My friend and I had a nice and fulfilling dining experience. Price range is not on the cheap side but I think it it’s affordable enough for the quality and taste they serve. Lastly, the place tends to get crowded but it’s worth the wait. 🙂

The Garden Slug

As a pre-birthday celebration (last 10 October), the four of us—me, my sister and her husband and my best friend ate at The Garden Slug for dinner. Personally, I really don’t like celebrating my birthday that’s why it’s just the four of us. LOL

These are printed paintings by a local artist. You can check his instagram account @michael_lee_sy.

And here’s our order:The Garden Slug 8

Food Fest

A couple of months ago, I was asked by my friend to take some photos for Stew Küche. It is a restaurant here in Singapore that offers German cuisine. The photos were used in hungrygowhere and for a deal post in Superdeals these both are by Insing by the way.

I have placed some screenshots of the site. But you can also personally visit the site. I’ve changed some photos into B&W because those were not taken by me. Ha ha

The Bangkok Experience

I was dumbfounded by the richness of Thailand’s culture. They really did a good job with keeping their culture until this day.

Our first stop: Jim Thompson House

They have a souvenir shop where you can buy all sorts of products made with silk (scarves, bags, shirts, pouches and many more)Kriscel Go 2013 BKK Thailand-4

We also visited The Grand Palace and Wat Po (the famous Reclining Buddha) by riding the Chao Phraya River Cruise.

This is a good example of a photobomber. Ha haKriscel Go 2013 BKK Thailand-14

Of course, what’s a BKK experience without going to a night market.

We also checked out the newly opened mall, Terminal 21. It’s a one floor-one concept shopping mall. The concept represents different market streets around the world. Each floor is decorated in to a well-known city streets such as Rome, Tokyo, Japan, Istanbul, etc. The toilets also differs depending on the country they represent—I checked every toilet. Lol

Artsy streets of Bangkok.

I can say, Suvarnabhumi Airport is one of the nicest airports I’ve been to.Kriscel Go 2013 BKK Thailand-44

’Til my next trip. ❤

Singapore: Week 2&3 (Food)

I compiled the things I’ve eaten during my 2nd and 3rd week here in Singapore.

CHINESE:

Of course, Din Tai Fung. You can’t leave Singapore without eating here. Except if you are from Taiwan.

For the weight watchers, Soup Broth Asia offers dishes that is prepared without MSG and they put calorie count in each dish. Try the Yam rice. Yummeh!

JAPANESE:
Tajiyama, a Japanese charcoal grill Yakiniku restaurant. You have to try their Eat-all-you-want Wagyu Beef menu. So good! ❤

Ajisen Ramen

Ichiban Sushi
Chicken Teriyaki with Miso soup + Hot green tea.

THAI:
Absolute Thai at Johor Premium Outlet.

Our food:

WESTERN:

High Tea Buffet at House, Barracks & Camp. They have lovely food and interior—very homey and relaxing.

KOREAN:

DESSERT/SWEETS:
Ci Gusta! A gelato and yogurt place located at Anchorpoint Shopping Centre. Their gelato is too sweet for my taste though.

Twelve cupcakes, they offer a lot of flavours. And I heard that this is one of the most popular cupcake shops here in Singapore.

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd is LOVE! The soya just melts in your mouth and the sweetness is just right. Soya goodness!! Kriscel Go 2013 Singapore-60

K-bbq in the South

I love Korean food so much!! There’s not a week I’m not craving for it. So my friend and I tried out Sariwon Korean Barbeque Restaurant in BGC.

Korean side dishes is love. Weeee! But I wish they were refillable as most Korean restaurants offer.Kriscel Go 2013 Sariwon-3

Jeonju Bibimbap (P300.00)

Japchae (P350.00), is good for sharing.

Kriscel Go 2013 Sariwon-10

We got free dessert. Yey! It’s called Sikhye─a traditional homemade sweet drink with malt and rice. The taste is light and refreshing, a great way to end a meal.

Kriscel Go 2013 Sariwon-8

Verdict: 4/5 (The experience was great and I really love their food. I would go back and dine here again if I have the chance. Just make the side dishes refillable! Lol) And it’s a bit pricey.

Chocolate-y Christmas

It’s the holidays again. Time flies so fast. And here we are, spending Christmas in Bohol. Yey!

Touch down at Tagbilaran Airport!

14 THINGS TO DO IN BOHOL:
1. Visit the Chocolate Hills.

I love how colour-coordinated we are.Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-22

The locals will ask you to pose on a broomstick. The effect is like you are flying over Chocolate Hills. But I think ours didn’t achieve that. Lol We were laughing the whole time while taking this photo—it was sort of hard because we’re six and we can’t get the right timing to jump together. But we tried our best. Ha haKriscel Go 2012 Bohol-21

2. Visit some Tarsiers at Tarsiers Conservation Area.

Before entering the park, there’s a brief orientation on the Do’s and Don’ts. Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-13

Remember, no flash photography and keep noise at a minimum.Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-15

Hello there little fellow!

3. If you like butterflies, you can drop by the Bohol Butterfly Sanctuary.

Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-31

You can try out this as well—”I’m a beautiful butterfly” pose. Lol

A great way to beat the heat is to eat this yummy natural fruit ice cream. Mine was cheese flavoured and it has cheese bits inside. I died! It’s good! For all those cheese lovers out there, you have to try this!
Kriscel Go 2012 Bohol-36

4. Go on a River Cruise at Loboc River. It also includes native lunch on board.

5. Drive along the Bilar Man-Made ForestKriscel Go 2012 Bohol-74

6. Say “She sells seashells by the seashore.” Kidding. Check out Nova Shell Museum.

7. Pass by the Blood Compact Commemorative Shrine and the “Shiphaus”, it’s ship looking house that’s owned by a former ship captain. That’s a mouthful of ships. Lol

8. Visit some of the oldest churches in Bohol.

  • Baclayon Church
  • Dauis Church

9. For those who like some adventure, go to Loboc Eco-tourism Adventure Park and try out the zipline and cable car.

10. Another place you can visit is the Hinagdanan Cave.

11. Crossed the Tigbao Hanging bridge.

12. Visit Prony, the world’s biggest and longest native phyton in captivity at Bohol Phyton & Wildlife Park.

13. Eat healthy/organic/fresh food. Dine in Bohol Bee Farm.

The ingredients they serve came from their own garden. Nom! Here are some of the dishes we tried:

Aside from honey products they also sell potted herbs.

14. And of course, buy some souvenir shirts.

The beach is also lovely!

They transformed the dining area to be extra special because it’s the Christmas Eve.

Itadakimasu!

Aside from Korean food, I love Japanese food. I consider it as comfort food because of the richness of the taste.

Teriyaki Boy is one of my go-to Japanese restaurants in the Philippines. And here are some dishes that you have to try:
